Meskerem 1 (September 11), marked the start of 2018 in the Ethiopian calendar. Staff, volunteers, and self-help group members all held New Year celebrations. One self-help group gathered at the office to share refreshments and a traditional coffee ceremony. The floors were decorated with fresh grass and flowers, as is custom in Ethiopia for coffee ceremonies and the new year. It was a joyful time of fellowship!
As a New Year’s surprise for the children and their parents, the sponsorship office distributed blankets, socks, shoes, underwear, and cooking oil. These simple items are so important in daily life and were a meaningful holiday gift. It was a reminder to the families that they are remembered, cared for, and valued. Thank you!
