Thanks to a special 2024 grant from one of our sponsors, we’re thrilled to introduce two new members of the Ethiopia team!
Abenezer, our new health officer, is a stellar young man who graduated from the sponsorship program in 2022. Beloved by families and staff, he’s volunteered with the program since his teen years and teaches a youth discipleship class. Now with degrees in nursing and management, he is coordinating medical care for all the sponsored children and their families. He monitors and identifies health needs, responds to emergencies, and follows up on doctors’ orders. When needed, he accompanies patients during doctor visits and helps them understand their illness and treatment. Since January, he has taught families how to recognize, prevent, and treat rhinoviruses, Covid, influenza, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and typhoid. He is currently preparing for an international nurse license exam.

After volunteering last summer, Tinsae became our full-time communications officer in January. Fluent in English, she has quickly taken over reporting, letter writing, translating, and coordinating with the US office. As she helps the kids write their letters, she listens to their struggles and dreams and encourages them to discover their talents, plan their goals, and resist peer pressure. She also teaches classes, trains volunteers, tutors children, and assists with home visits. Tinsae is working on a Master’s in Project Management and hopes to study Holistic Child Development. With extensive experience in children’s and youth ministry, she says, “It was my dream to be a mentor and advocate for children and youth. I only hoped to do this in my free time someday, but we never know what God will do!”
In a short time, Abenezer and Tinsae have responded to critical needs and freed up the staff to focus on other work. We are so very grateful for your faithful support that has made this possible!
